Does your piano need attention? Let’s make that happen! I am new to the area, and hope to do my part to make it easier to find a tuner who is still taking new clients. I’m ready when you are!
Piano Tuning
Whether your piano is a concert grand that has always been well-cared for, or is a spinet that has suffered neglect for years, I am committed to doing all I can to bring out its best.
Regulation
As a life-long musician myself, I know how important it is for your instrument to be responsive to your playing. Keys that are not level, hammers that rise too late, and back checks that catch too soon can all get in the way of the music. I can help.
Repair
Whether it is a key that is stuck, a broken hammer, or a missing string, I can make many small repairs during my visit.
About Me – Tom Ethan
Since a very young age, I have had two interests that have never flagged: music and all things mechanical. Some of my greatest joy has come when the two have been joined: operating and recording music on a Silvertone reel-to-reel at age 4; designing and building a “guitar” (later converted into a kind of clavichord); building a recording studio on my parents’ property; these are a few examples.
I was gifted my first piano tuning supplies when I was still a young boy. At first, I worked on my own, following the advice in a book that was given me at the same time. When I was twenty, though, I had the great fortune to work with Master Technician Bill Laird, as he put new hammers on the family grand piano. (The upright in my room wasn’t as fortunate.) From Bill, I learned to regulate an action, and developed an appreciation for the need for attention to detail.
My curiosity has not diminished with the years: I am now building my first violin!
